WATERLOO — A 27-year-old Kitchener man is facing charges after a senior woman was assaulted near Highland Park Shopping Centre on Monday.
At around 1:15 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police were called to the Highland Road West and Westmount Road West area after a man assaulted a senior woman as she was walking in a parking lot.
The man then left on foot.
The woman was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the woman and man don’t know each other and he didn’t steal anything from her after the assault.
Police found the suspect a short distance away from the parking lot.
A 27-year-old Kitchener man is charged with assault causing bodily harm and failure to comply with a release order.
The man was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
